What is the teacher transfer process?
The teacher transfer process allows certified educators within the district to apply for open teaching positions at other schools within the system. This process ensures fairness, transparency, and alignment with district needs.

Who is eligible to participate?
All certified teachers currently employed in the district who meet the qualifications for the available positions may contact site administrators for an interview to transfer for the 2025-2026 school year.

When does the transfer process begin and end?
The official transfer window opens on May 7, 2025 and closes on June 6, 2025. Inquiries and requests to transfer must be submitted to Principals within this timeframe to be considered.

How do I apply for a transfer?
Certified staff may send a resume to selected administrators. Be sure to include updated credentials and any required supporting documents.

Can I apply for multiple positions?
Yes, teachers may apply for multiple positions at different schools as long as they have the required certification or have submitted documentation to NCDPI to add the licensure area.

How are transfer decisions made?
Principals will review applications based on:
- Qualifications and certifications
- Interview performance

Will I be guaranteed a transfer if I apply?
No, applying does not guarantee a transfer. Hiring decisions are based on available vacancies and administrative approval.
Impact on Current Position & Contract

If I accept a transfer, when will it take effect?
Approved transfers will take effect at the beginning of the next school year unless otherwise noted. Mid-year transfers will not be considered.

Can my principal deny my transfer request?
Current staff are not required to inform their current principal that they are considering transfer to another school. Out of respect for administrative staff, the receiving principal should contact the previous school administrator to inform them of the move

What happens if I accept a transfer but change my mind?
Once a transfer is approved and accepted, reversing the decision may not be possible. Certified staff should carefully consider all factors before applying.
Additional Considerations

Will my salary or benefits change if I transfer?
Salaries remain within the district and state established pay scale. However, additional stipends or incentives may vary depending on the new school’s funding and programs.

Can I transfer to a different grade level or subject?
Yes, if you meet the certification requirements for the new assignment. Some schools may require additional training or endorsements.

How should the receiving school principal make the change in Oracle?
The receiving school should complete the Google Form to communicate changes. This is the same process that HR has used for several years now. The form will be sent to principals and hiring managers closer to May 7, 2025. HR specialists will complete the transfers in Oracle.

What about Interims/ Temporary to Permanent staff?
Principals will receive notification when they are allowed to request a current Interim/Temporary staff can be changed to Permanent. The receiving school will complete the Google Form to communicate changes. HR specialists will complete the process in Oracle.

Is there a limit on the number of transfers I can hire from one school?
No, there is not a limit on the number of transfers you “take” from one school; however, all candidates must be transferred to fill a known vacancy and have the required certification or be actively working on certification.
