The Leadership Academy gives students an opportunity to learn, at a young age, that they have the potential in them to be an outstanding leader at school and in their community.  “Every child can be a leader” is the motto that drives instruction, which integrates academic, leadership, and life skills and creates a sense of student empowerment.

Through the “Leader in Me” model, students learn about the importance of responsibility, integrity, vision, and teamwork/collaboration, which are qualities found in an effective leader.  Additionally, students learn how to handle challenges that elementary-age children face.

Special elective courses available to students include Leadership and Spanish.

Students from outside the Costner attendance area who will be in kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year may apply for this program.  A lottery process will be used to determine the kindergarten students who will attend (from outside the Costner attendance area).  Students who live in the Costner attendance area automatically participate in the Leadership Academy.
